A film noir take on Jim Thompson’s more pulp-fiction orientated novel, Michael Winterbottom’s The Killer Inside Me plays out at an artful, serious distance, in contrast to the more humorous versions of pulp fiction we’ve come across in the likes of, say, Raymond Chandler (excepting the Guy Ritchie-esque opening title graphics).
