It’s been three years since British India released an album and they’ve had a helluva time getting back on track. From their record label going bust to their rehearsal space flooding, the band’s fourth studio album, Controller, was born from testing times. “Who’d have thought we’d still be here four records in?” frontman Declan Melia asked to the crowd on Saturday night. Well, they are, and this gig was a short but ever so sweet return to Perth.

Sunday night brought an odd mix of characters to The Astor: over 40s rocking leather jackets and killer sideburns ready to relive their glory days, younger punters embracing musicians of old, and the odd local muso taking tips from rock music overlords.

It’s just like they say; if you can remember the ‘90s, you were there. Fortunately, the good folk of RTR FM managed to assemble a special Perth music portion of that decade for whether you were there the first time or not. And by way of celebrating the 20th In The Pines it was a thing of beauty.
